A little traditional poetry is good for the soul

REMEMBER AFRICAN CULTURE.

It was around us
It defines us
It was all we knew
It was the African culture

Women in sisal skirts
Women in uncovered breasts
Women with children on their back
And water pots balanced on their heads
That was African culture

Men with loin pieces and bear chests
Men with bear spread feet
Men with spears on their right hands
And shields on their left hands
That was African culture

Half naked children running around
Eager children gathered around to listen to stories
Children shouting on top of their voices
As they happily sing play songs
That was African culture

Young men facing the knife boldly
Young men hunting in the wild
Young man showing their prowess
To woe girls and gain recognition
That was African culture

Young women gossiping on the way to the river
Young women swaying their hips to entice men
Young women with ornaments
Dangling from head to toe
That was African culture

People living together in harmony
People working together in harmony
Playing the drums and dancing to the beat
People bound together by culture
That was the African culture
